Hello everyone!
Since I started with YouTube and also having my website, I neglect my study time. I feel somehow guilty and feel like I’m wasting my time with social media. I’m also still juggling with RemNote’s spaced repetition function. Furthermore, me and one of my friend are planning about hosting a Podcast. We will work on our Podcast after my exam.

Make Time: Avoiding Social Media Loops
I’ve been researching some tips about how not to get distracted with my smartphone on the Internet and came to these conclusions:
  1. I’m using a color filter black and white on my iPhone and using a yellow filter at night. This helps me to get bored with all the intention looping caused by social media platform.
  2. I deactivated all my notifications on my iPhone except for the call.
  3. I charged my iPhone at night. When the battery down on that day, I’m not charging anymore. This action hinders me to not going back to my phone again and really focus on non smartphone tasks.
  4. I am learning to be intentional with my loose time, so I don’t feel guilty when I am not doing something productive. I need to take care of myself and calm my nerves. Not only that, but I enjoy the moment without thinking about other tasks. In doing nothing alone, I regain my focus and energy for other tasks.
  5. I batch my time in category: proactive and reactive tasks. Proactive tasks are phone calling and writing E-Mails. Reactive tasks are studying and researching. For each, I have one big session. This prevents me to waste my energy when I transition between these two different categories.
  6. I am learning how to accept my plan should be as flexible as possible. There’s many uncontrolled moments. Buffering more time between two tasks helps me to have less stress due to rigid schedules.
RemNote: My Struggles
I found RemNote very helpful, and it’s exactly what I need for active recall and note-taking. I am using image occlusions more often and feel somehow limited because I can’t write a text on the image. Furthermore, I sometimes just want to make notes on the image or just have another answer for the image.
Also, the cloze function still bothering me. I love to write a paragraph and just want to hide one or two words. It will be very useful if I can write a text on cloze function. e.g.: I come from [Country]. But for now, it’s ok and I can deal with it.
Podcast: Finding the right title
My friend and I have been talking about this for months, and we will have our podcast show. But still, we can’t really work on it at the moment because I still need to study for my exam. I really need to work on time organization. I struggle a lot with time at the beginning of sharing my idea on the internet because I still have my study, part-time student job, part-time YouTube Channel, and also having a new website.
We are really excited to start our Podcast, and it gives me so much happiness and satisfaction to talk and have a meaningful conversation with some of my friends at the university. The thing is, we are still struggling with finding the right title for our podcast.
Let me know if you have an idea for the podcast title. I’d love to know. And if you have questions about studying medicine generally or specially in Germany, don’t be afraid to ask. I love to answer your message.
